Hallelujah Chance!

Hallelujah Chance!

It’s a famous themeline of a popular Japanese Drama on 2007, Proposal Daisakusen, or it’s also called Operation Love. This drama is another live action that’s based on manga story. I never read the manga before, so all I know just the story from the drama, but I’m already touched with the plot. So either someday I can read the manga or not, I am quite satisfied with the story.

It’s another story about childhood friend and baseball. Sometime I wonder why this topic is so popular in Japan. I have read some stories with that kind of topic, most of them by Adachi Mitsuru, but I found out that all of them are interisting stories. There are always somethings that can be told about that topic.  With same kind of main topic, japanese authors are creative enough to make plenty of plots and twists among the characters. And in my opinion, Proposal Daisakusen have one of most unique plot among those stories.

This story was began with the heroine, Yoshida Rei, played by the beautiful Masami Nagasawa, was marrying a former intern teacher in her highschool who also was her lecturer in college, a man named Tada. Her childhood friend, Ken, Rei used to call him Kenzo, attended her wedding ceremony. At the chruch, he just realized how bad he was in love with Rei. Ken took a very long time to notice his own feeling, because almost as long as his life, Rei was always by his side, her existence was just naturall for him. Maybe he indeed didn’t have skill or just too obstinate, for never confesing his love to Rei, but I can’t blame him. I also had a female childhood friend when I was kid but we never stayed last long like Ken and Rei. We separated because we entered different middle school, and we were high school, she moved to new house.

So, when I was watching this drama, I tried to imagine if was still with my childhood friend, maybe I would have same feeling like Ken. We used to come over each other house regularly. I told her my secret, something that my parent event didn’t know, either did she. She was the one that I felt most comfortable with, I believe that she also felt the same. I think, both Rei and Ken, also experinced those feeling as well.

Naturally, Rei and Ken would start their relationship, sooner or later. But it wouldn’t be a drama if it could end with that simple way. Before Rei and Ken could understand about their own feeling about each other, somebody else came and ‘stole’ Rei from Ken. A straightforward , honest, calm, mature and ignorant man had proposed Rei and she decided to accept his proposal. Ken look like had had no chance until a fairy who lived in church where Rei wedding was, took over of this problem.

He gave Ken some chances to back to the past, fixing some stupid things that he had done. There some comemorate pictures that were shown and Ken went back just few moment before that picture were taken, with ‘Hallelujah Chance! as the keyword. There is one thing that I’ve learn from Ken’s journey to the past. Ken and Rei had been togheter since they were kids. Maybe because Rei was always around, he didn’t really mind her. He never tried to understat her, even treated her heartlessly. When I was contemplanting about what Ken did, I realized that, I often treat people around me with same way like Ken. I didn’t genuinly use my heart when I was treating them. After I had wathced couples episodes of this drama, I learned that some people indeed lived around me, but it didn’t mean that they would be always there, so I should treat them better when I could, used my heart more when I did or said something as I didn’t have a magical fairy like Ken who could turn time back to past.
