Mirajane Strauss is indeed additional character in Fairy Tail. But in my view, she is unique and interisting character. There are many parts of her that are worth to be disccuseed, both in her past or current life.
Little Mira had completely opposite character. She indeed have been so strong since she was a little kid but you couldn’t expect any good attitude from her. She was rude and didn’t have manner. She was typical who didn’t care about other people feeling. When little Natsu lost his ‘dragon’ egg, instead of comforting him, she teased Natsu. She said that Natsu had eaten it himself. Regarding their age, her words could be considered cruel.
Still from the same episode, Mira found out that Lissana had gone with Natsu taking care the egg. She suddenly broke a table in front of Macao and Wakaba. She even sat above their head. In Japannese culture, or maybe in any other culture, there is an unwritten rule that you shall show your respect to the elders. In normal condition, Macao and Wakaba should had tought her a lesson, but they knew that Mira would outclass them instantly.
Mira was also Erza’s rival. In their generation , they both are indeed the strongest, and they also heppened to have difficult character to be deal with. You can say that Erza, although she has been so strick since she was kid, was quite wise and mature for her age due to hard time that she had gone through before she joined Fairy Tail. And Mira didn’t like it. Seeing Erza acted like a teacher was something that she hated most. They challenged each other so many times and their equal power only made them became perfect rival.
Their strength had been acknowledged by Fairy Tail’s master, Makarov Dreyar, so they both were allowed to take S-Class exam. They met master’s expectation and qualified to become S-Class mage in their very young age. I bet that they were even younger than Laxus when he passed S-Class exam. As S-Class mage, of course they were allowed to take S-Class jobs. As you may know, S-Class jobs are different than the other jobs. The level of difficulty is so much higher and you are taking huge risk when you take this job. Or in short, very dangerous jobs. And one of the S-Class jobs has changed Mira forever.
She took that fate job together with her younger siblings, Elfman and Lissana. In that job, Elfman tried to take over the soul of beast that they faced. But in the end, he couldn’t control his own body and mind. He wiped out Lissana and gave her serious injury. Mira had tried to save her before her whole body was absorbed by anima. Mira had no idea what had happened and tought that Lissana was dead. She was crying a lot while Elfman kept making ruckus with his beast soul.
Those shocking moment had made Mira and Elfman lost their courage and even their magic power. In Elfman case, he still could use take over for his right hand, insted of his whole body. But Mira almost completely lost her power. She couldn’t fought anymore. Can you imagine how huge was her burden? That moment had hurted her so badly so it was even able to change the powerfull and mannerless S-Class mage became gentle and softhearted woman who always throw her smile to others.
From Mira experience, I’ve learn how great Fairy Tail is, because Mira’s reaction after the disaster of her life was the best reaction that she possibly had. If Mira had joined other guild she wouldn’t never be the same Mira. She could become either powerfull evil mage or just hopeless sorrow girl. But Fairy Tail’s warm environment, the strong bond between the member, wise master,and anything else that Fairy Tail has, had made her become the current Mira that we know, the lovely and beautifull Mira.
Can you imagine if Lissana didn’t ‘die’ and Mira never changed, what would happen then to Fairy Tail? Erza and Mira would keep their rivality and with their current power, it would be something bad for everybody. What I mean with ‘everybody’ is not just everybody in Fairy Tail, but in Magnolia City. Do you remember Laxus threatened the whole city with his tunder palace? It was prove that even single S-Class mage had enough capability to destroy the city. Let’s just pretending as Hiro Mashima and make a new plot. Let say, Mira happened to steal Erza’s strowberry cake and Erza found out about it. So, what would happen next?
If were Mashima, it would start with Satan Soul vs Heaven Wheel Armor and meet the end with Satan Soul Sitri vs Nakagami Armor. It would be awesome to see that Magnolia was being destroyed during their duel. Even if Master Makarov tried to stop them, it would be useless or even made everythings worse instead. Regarding they had had bad reputation, the council would ban them immediately without gave them chance to defense themselves in court. Fairy Tail story would end even before they fought Panthom. So sad 😥
But Mashima always know the best for Fairy Tail. He made Mira changed with a touchy story. One of my favorite story in Fairy Tail is strory about Strauss Family. The moment when Lissana back from Edolas after 2 years is the most touchy moment beside the moment when Ultear coffesed to Meldy on a boat after a battle in Tenrou Island. I was crying when I saw Mira and Elfman were crying. I was crying when Master was welcoming Lissana and said that she was always the child of the guild. That moments have made me falling for Strauss sisters.
Another thing that I know about Mira is she hate pervertness, especially Master Makarov’s pervertness. She cann’t stand whenever Master Makarov start to show up his pervert side. But, Fairy Tail has another big pervert, Erza. In my opinion , she is even worse than Makarov, but Mira never do anything about it. I don’t know either she is from same gender or she has had good relatiopship with Erza since she changed, but she must has her own reason. But there is no way that she affraid of her because she knew excatly that Erza wouldn’t harm her when she was powerless. When Erza appeared for the first time on the anime, she came back from hunting down a monster and brought back its huge horn, everybody was so scared but Mira. I think it was prove that they were indeed close.
If there is something bad about the current Mira, I think it is her drawing skill. After the building of Fairy Tail guild had been destroyed by Panthom, Fairies built again their home based on a picture that Mira had drawn. It was awfull picture indeed, that had made Gray insulted it and then Mira cried. Fortunetely for Gray that Mira had had gentle heart, If she hadn’t changed, he could have same fate as the old guild building, be destroyed. I think it wasn’t only Gray who was lucky, but the entire city, because few moments later, Laxus came and provoked them all. Erza with her maturity could hold her anger towards Laxus, but if Mira hadn’t changed, the ending of Phantom arc wouldn’t be Fairies rebuilt only their guild, but the whole Magnolia.
So far, it’s all that I know about Mirajane Strauss, S-Class Mage of Fairy Tail, one of my favorite characters in Fairy Tail. Actually, my first crush in Fairy Tail was Erza after her heroic action in the battle againt Phantom Lord. But, then fell for Strauss Sister after seeing Lissana’s touchy comeback, and then Ultear due to her conffesion to Meldy. So, I wish I can post about Erza, Lissana and Ultear in the future.
